Dear Jacob,
After exactly one month of having the Maarga Speakers in my room, I feel I need to give you an update.
They are sounding absolutely FANTASTIC!
Truly incredible… amazing… absolutely the BEST speakers I have heard in my short sweet time on this mortal coil (!) Hahaha
Seriously - as the speakers gradually broke in over the first couple of weeks, the sound kept getting better and better, every day.
The last week or so, the Subs have really started to kick in and merge / integrate with the full range drivers beautifully.
Now I have drums and bass (super tight and accurate) filling the sound stage too - heaven.
I read somewhere - maybe an interview with you, or a report from an Audio Show - that the Full Range driver needs about 50 hours of break-in time, and the Subs about 200 hours. That seems fairly accurate to me.
I would suggest that you need to alert ‘new’ owners to this - as, to be honest, the sound of the Maargas ‘out of the box’ was a bit disappointing for me. In fact, I sort of freaked out a bit…
“Oh no… this isn’t what I expected at all! - what have I done??” Hahaha
OF COURSE everything has simply gone from strength to strength ever since… Now I am in love with your speakers.
My music has never sounded better - or so ‘right’ and most importantly - so ‘enjoyable’!
Your previous comments about ‘coherence’, and how the brain processes recorded music / live music are absolutely spot on.
I feel like the Maargas are presenting real ‘music’, not little pieces that then have to somehow be quickly put together in my mind to make the whole. I now sit on the edge of my seat, leaning forward to hear every nuance - so many things I’ve ’never heard’ before?!
And I hear some music pieces quite *differently* - that ‘intent’ thing I mentioned before…
Not just the ‘sound’ but the actual ‘structure’… like ‘Oh, that was what they are getting at - I didn’t really notice that crescendo there before…'
I really am working through my whole (large) musical collection to finally, truly ‘hear’ everything, maybe for the first time!
What a joy for me.
